I have started my Bachelor Degree now in Open University Malaysia (OUM) and the course I studying is Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours. This is my 1st semester and I only took 2 subjects in this semester because OUM only provides 2 subjects for new students in 1st sem. The subjects are Health & Wellness and Learning Skills For Open and Distance Learners, which designed by OUM for it students have a better understanding on open and distance learning as the study mode in OUM is blended mode, which is face-to-face plus online learning.
What I want to share is I am very hesitate whether I want to continue this programme or not? First, study is neither my hobby nor my interest. Reading novel, magazine, comics or some blog postings definitely is my interest and hobby but not reading textbooks and journals. Simply saying, I hate study.
Second, I just want a simple life. I am very happy with my job scope and position now. I don't like promotion because for me promotion is adding burden on mine shoulder and add more stress on me. But, I know some people like promotion because they get a higher position and higher salary. Somebody like challenges as this for them are an excitement and it allows them to get satisfaction and fulfillment. I am not that kind of person, I like documentation and database management because this suite my color as I am a purple brain person according to the Coloured Brain.
Third, I realized that study a Bachelor is not the only way for a person to get higher education status but the nature of the person. For example, a lawyer help the defendant escapes from the criminal that he had done is not ethical as well as suite what he had been taught to do in his role. He is not represent fair and justice as a lawyer. Therefore, I won't classified this kind of person as a high educated person even though he is highly educated. The beauty of education is to teach people behave morally and how deals with circumstances occur on their daily life. For instance, I have to apologize when I done something wrong; I know what is good and bad; I know what thing I should do and what shouldn't do.
Lastly, you cannot guarantee you can get a job after you got your Bachelor Degree because Bachelor Degree cannot represent all of you. It is only let other people know you have that profession but not your attitude on working. For a boss or employer, profession is important but your attitude on work place is more important than your profession. Some people do not get Diploma or Certificate but they also got their jobs, may in low salary, still depends on the situation. Some Degree holders cannot find a job after they graduate. Sometimes this depends on your luck or faith or somethings else such as attitude, the way you dress, you talk, you behave and etc.
In conclusion, I am still hesitate whether should I continue my Bachelor Degree but I already have a job in Setapak area. So, just see whether I can go through this and get a Bachelor Degree Certificate because I need to study 5 years in part-time.
For someone who read this post I need to say thanks because 'listening' me naging here and there.
